Yes, I realize it has been a little while, but here is a brief update for any curious readers.
Brady has turned 2! He is a big boy who is very interested in the concept of going potty, I just do not feel that he is ready to go all the way yet. I think I will hit potty training hard around Christmas time.
Lauren is in PREK, the big kids class due to the fact that I cannot teach my children without major conflict. She is doing very well now that she has adjusted. She lets me put her hair up now, so we are having fun with that. She and Walker are becoming such good buddies most of the time. We call her sunny because when she smiles it really lights up her face, but if she is in a mood, we call her stormy. I think you get the drift.
Walker. What a riot that kid is. He has his Darth Vader costume for Halloween which he is most excited about. He still LOVES the Jonas Brothers. Unfortunately, I have become a fan as well. He loves to read and write, or his version of reading and writing.
I have loads of pictures to share, but that will have to be for another time!!
Bye for now!
Yes, I will brag about my kids, but I will also tell you when they frustrate me, when I frustrate them and how we manage to stay intact as a family. Caution: Not for those who oppose humor and/or saracasm in child-rearing.

Hollywood
In case the pictures in the last post were totally random, here are the quickie explanations. Brady was smooching G-ma Goebel at the pool on July 4 and David caught it perfectly. Doug tells me that Grandma is probably not a fan of this pic being on the blog, but it is too cute not to share. Lauren and Ainsley were giving each other a hug for David the day he came to town at Grandma's house and the carousel pic was Doug, Walker and Katie at the zoo. So that's that.
I had to write this one down for posterity. Everyone knows if I had my way Walker would be a priest or something along those lines, however, this is not the path his heart wants to follow. I took a few days off work this week and we have been hanging out at home the past couple of days. Yesterday, he was telling me that he wanted to make a movie. He wanted to make Camp Rock 2. He asked if we could do it after nap , so I said sure. He rehearsed ALL morning the main song he wanted to sing from the sound track. He had it all figured out. He was Nick Jonas, Doug was going to be Joe and Brady would be Kevin. Lauren, after much negotiation got the part of Mitchie (the female lead) and I got cast as the mean girl who tries to take Mitchie down. I tried not to take this personally. After nap we got right into the movie making. Apparently the show goes on even when the female lead (Lauren) is still sleeping. Sure enough he performed two songs with a little back up from the other "Jonas Brothers". We watched it and had a good time.
Today, he asked me if he could make a REAL movie, not just a camcorder type thing. I told him they only do that in Hollywood and that it costs LOTS of money. After I told him that Hollywood was in California, he said so matter of factly, "Well, Grandma, Grandpa and Tracy get to make movies all the time, right?" I had to iron that one out. So here is his vision that he wants to take to Hollywood, all thought up on his bike this morning:
It is called "The Boy Who Could Not Get Out of the Pool"
The premise is that a boy goes swimming and doesn't want to get out of the pool because he doesn't want to be cold. He rides his bike in the pool, eats dinner in the pool and sleeps in pool, even through the winter.
I thought that was pretty creative! Then again, I might have a little bit of a bias.
If we ever go to California, he asked that I would look into getting his movie made.
Have a good one!

See, I am not a slacker!

Look how many posts I have done this week! Same stuff, different day! Doug (super Dad) took Walker for a special day Monday. They went to see Kung Fu Panda and out to lunch. He LOVED having the day to himself with Dad! This picture is from a couple of weeks ago. It was pirate week at school and he couldn't get enough! He was a pirate last Halloween. Sweet moment of the week was when he asked me if he could marry me when he grew up. I tried the logical approach and told him that I am his mom and therefore cannot be his wife, but this was not sinking in. I had to go the "Dad asked me first" route! Still, the fact that he would consider me in his life in the future was encouraging!
Lauren is her normal spitfire self. She is going to have her Dad day tomorrow. Her cute saying right now is "I love you and I like you." She is precious.
Brady bear is showing signs of being 2 soon. He still loves cars and balls. That and the Wiggles. Just like Walker, he is into Capt. Featehersword and when he says "Blow me down", Brady falls down. Walker used to do the same thing when he was 2!
So that's life in the big O!

Please don't call me a slacker (but I am)
I am sad that my last post was Easter! Bad Mom!! I wanted to update more for my own purpose to remember some of our family happenings but I love to hear other peoples opinions too!
So what is going on with my gang:
Walker- This kid was born to swim. He LOVES to swim. He has had swim lessons, but has pretty much taught himself how to float, swim from one spot to another. He is also very good about staying where he is supposed to! His coloring is phenomenal. I printed out a Scooby Doo sticker chart for him and he colored from memory exactly the right colors and perfectly within the lines. He is my man with literally 1000 questions. Yesterday he was asking me what his name will be when he gets married. I told him his name stays the same. Mr. Logic came back at me with "But what if she asks ME to marry HER?" I told him the guy always keeps his name. He will always be Walker Goebel. The one thing that kind of makes me question his taste is his undying loyalty to Billy Ray Cyrus. We listen to his CDs constantly.
Lauren- She is really showing the terrible 3's lately. She is VERY picky about clothes. She has to be in pants and a shirt or there is a fight. Score for mom, she wore a skirt and sleeveless top today! When she is not mad at me for making her wear more of the clothes sitting in her drawers, she tells me "We are best friends, right?" She brings her purse (my old purses) everywhere! At school, she hangs her purse on the same hook as her teacher hangs her purse. They are "purse buddies". If Lauren acts up, her teachers tells her she will move her purse. Whatever works, right? She LOVES to play teacher. She tells me all the time she wants to be a mommy or Ms. Heidi (her teacher) when she grows up.
Brady- My baby. He is sooo not a baby anymore. He loves cars and balls. He points out every car he sees. If there is a car or truck in the vicinity, he is set for hours pushing it around. He loves the Wiggles, so all of Walker's wiggle stuff is getting another go 'round. He has Walkers Wiggle's pillow that Aunt Tracy sent him and sleeps on it every night. He has to point out the big red "car" every night before he lays down on it. He is definately almost 2. He has temper tantrums, but when he is done, he says "sorry, sorry, sorry" and gives a big hug to tell me he is over it. When it comes to swimming he is fearless! He thinks he is has big as his brother and can just jump right in! He gives me heart palpatations every time!
Thats what the kids are like at this moment! I hope I keep up better with posts!

Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail. . .
Well folks, it is Easter! All are napping (except Walker) and this is a good time to let you know how the big day went. First of all, a big THANK YOU to Aunt Tracy who came through this week with some super cute easter presents for the kids! Walker got his first. He got some Wiggles wrist bands (he took them to school the next day, very stylish I must say) and a Spiderman drawing pad with those magic ink markers to color (my favorite kind of coloring utensil since I have a very Avant Garde crayon design throughout the downstairs of the house courtesy of each of my children at some stage of toddlerhood). Lauren got a Barney doll to cuddle which she did right then and there as she was eating her dinner! Brady got the most popular, the Wiggles keyboard! He has to lay on his tummy to play it, what a nut! The kids were over the moon, especially after my boss (Ms. Kelli) bought them each a book from our Scholastic book fair for Easter! You would think that all of the bunny's work was done, but Easter had some good surprises for them! Lauren got a Princess book set with a read along CD (the most expensive of the bunny's gifts, but Daddy bunny said she was worth it, can you tell she's a Daddy's girl?) as well as some flip-flop looking slippers. She is always slower to analyze and realize what she has gotten. She wore the slippers to nap and Daddy has read her two of the books. Brady boy got a board book with some animal sounds which he enjoyed. Walker is always the one to get into the excitement of the holiday. He campaigned hard for a certain DVD from the Easter bunny, so I was a little nervous when the bunny got him something entirely different. The bunny got him one of those old school hopper balls (you know with the handle and you literally bounce yourself crazy). It has Spiderman on it. Wouldn't you know that he has not stopped bouncing all morning? Seriously. He even said he had always wanted one of those (he had no concept of what it was until he laid eyes on it this morning!). Needless to say, it all seemed to go over well. Lauren and I both are festive with purple nail polish and will be ready to go later to Debbie's house for the rest of the festivities. With all that said, it has been a pretty good weekend and we are getting excited for spring to hop back into some outdoor fun!

The Other Side of the Mountain

As you may already know, I am now on the other side of the mountain. I am officially in my 30s. What a thrill. Things look pretty much the same right now, so I guess that's the way it goes. On to the kids:
Walker is loving swim lessons, but looking forward to possibly doing baseball when swimming is done. He has been very philosophical lately and we have had long talks about death, good vs. bad choices and whatnot. Then he turns around and sings a song Lauren likes and substitutes all the words with poop, pee and fart. So, maybe he is not the most mature philosopher.
Lauren- My girl. She is loving the kitty kat her uncle got her for her birthday! She loves to pretend she is me reading books to her animals and babies. She LOVES her Barney videos. She is getting very spontaneous with "I love yous" and hugs which is soooooo sweet. Her new thing is to wipe off my kisses to get me to tickle her. She also likes to pick and choose when she is 3. If she wants to be carried, she is 2. If she wants me to let her do it herself, she is 3.
Brady-My little big boy. He literally is not much smaller than Lauren now. He is getting to the age where he's cute and he knows it. He is in a MAJOR Wiggles phase now. He is also a lover. He loves to lean in for kisses and hugs even with his siblings! But if you tell him "no" he sucks in his lips and starts to pout BIG TIME! He is growing soooo fast!
Well, here are some pictures from school so you can see what they do!

So, I don't like being called a Slacker!
Obviously, I'm a little more motivated to blog lately. Why, I'm not sure except that maybe it is saving lives. Yes, saving lives. You see, typing right now is saving Walker's life. I cannot kill him and type at the same time, so he lives (he is not laying down like he is supposed to, imagine that). Had I blogged yesterday, it would have saved Lauren's life. She got caught drawing on her bedroom wall instead of laying down to sleep (busted!!). Her dad saved her life (SUCKER!). So, that's my new philosophy, blogging saves lives.
Back to what's new, Lauren is now 3!!! She had a bit of a tough time letting go of 2. She's sentimental that way. Unfortunately for her, she was sick on her birthday, so she really did not enjoy it at all. Now that she is back to her normal naughty self (see above paragraph) she is enjoying the spoils of her birthday!
Walker and Brady are doing well. Brady is such a little boy now! He blows his own nose and points to me when he talks, although I have no idea what he is saying. Whatever it is, it is very important! Walker continues his amazing feats in swim lessons. He went off the diving board, and volunteered to be first!
So that's the news for tonight, hope it was enlightening!

Total Slacker
Yes, I am a total slacker with updates. But, since I feel like my head is going to implode and I can't sleep, I thought I would do a brief update.
So that's been the story this week. We have all been sick. Doug came home from school last Friday with whatever this is and is still not 100%. Saturday night, Walker, Lauren and I took turns throwing up all night. It ended in the four of us sleeping on the floor downstairs with a bucket for Walker and Lauren. Brady has had icky diarrhea for most of the week and low grade fevers so he has been staying home with dad. Tonight the poor little guy threw-up in his bed, so I'm not sure what to do with him next. All sickness aside, the kids are super excited for Valentines day! They made out their little cards tonight. Walker of course has Spiderman (no self-respecting 4-year-old would have anything different) and Lauren's are the Disney princesses. Speaking of my spunky little red-head, she turns 3 Sunday! She wants Barney and Princess for her B-day theme. I don't think we're going to do a big party, but (everyone feeling better) the kids really want to see a movie. Then, I'd like to celebrate at home, just the 5 of us. We'll see how it all goes.
I need to try to get Brady to rest, he is snuggling on my lap watching me type, so I should get back to him!
Hope nobody else gets this dastardly ilness!
Until next time!
